  • Evidence-Based Teacher Training: Developed his own teacher-training curriculum focused on reflective learning and understanding of Pilates concepts.

Career Journey:

Michael King began his career in Scunthorpe, England, as the first boy from North Lincolnshire to become a dancer. He discovered Pilates after a back injury and was mentored by Alan Herdman. In the 1980s, he opened Body Control Studios in London and later managed the Pilates studio at the Houston Ballet Company in the U.S. After working in various Pilates studios in Los Angeles, he returned to Europe in 1995. He founded the Pilates Institute UK and later established Michael King Pilates, which now has training programs in over 30 countries.
